Each probe features 384 dual-band, low-noise recording channels that can individually be configured to simultaneously record AP (action potential) and LFP (local field potential) signals from 4416 selectable, low-impedance TiN electrodes densely tiled along a 45-mm long, 70 x 122 µm cross-section straight shank.
The tip of the shank is sharpened out of plane to facilitate insertion into the brain and minimize dimpling and tissue damage.
Voltage signals are filtered, amplified, multiplexed and digitized on-chip, allowing the direct streaming of digital data from the probe.

The combination of dense recording sites and high channel count yields well-isolated spiking activity from hundreds of neurons per implanted probe. The small form factor, light weight package (400 mg) allows implantation of multiple probes and chronic recording of large populations of neurons from several brain structures in freely moving animals.
Fully packaged probes come with a metal cap with dovtail mounting structions, which serves as a light shield for the base electronics and allows accurate and well-aligned attachment of custom holders.
The metal-capped probe is compatible with the Neuropixels 1.0 probe holder, designed at the HHMI Janelia Research Campus.
Order code: NP1032
Neuropixels 1.0 NHP Long
The Neuropixels 1.0 NHP long probe is electrically identical to the standard Neuropixels 1.0 probe but has a thicker and longer shank to allow for high-density recording in large animal models. This probe type uses the same headstage and cable as Neuropixels 1.0.
